I was dropping my car off at the Toyota dealership on Broadway the other day and as I passed by Oakland Tech I looked across the street and I noticed that the W.C. Morse building was not only looking clean and beautifully renovated but it was filled with people. I made a mental note to check it out on the way back – I’ve always loved that building and to see filled with light and people warmed my heart. As I drove home from the dealership, I noticed a tiny blue bottle on the door of the entrance. And it clicked — what a perfect spot for a Blue Bottle Coffee Shop. I did some research and here is what I found out both about the building itself and the opening of Blue Bottle in Oakland.
* Built in 1920 this beautiful building used to house a auto showroom. The dealership went out of business in the 40’s and since then has been used for a variety of reasons — one of which was a frozen food delivery franchise.
* It is a historic building with amazing 20 ft ceilings and almost floor to ceiling windows that bring in a tremendous amount of light. Blue Bottle moved into the space on February 6th, 2014. For more info on the Blue Bottle Coffee and their opening in Oakland, check this out.
I’m excited to go check it out — I love Blue Bottle Coffee and that space is so beautiful- can’t wait.
