The Emeryville Public Market is slated to get a foodie facelift. I haven’t been in awhile. But I used to go all of the time, especially for some tasty udon if I was sick. I liked it when Borders Bookstore was there. Not sure what I think of Urban Outfitters (although is a 40 year old woman supposed to shop there? I think not.) but the Guitar Center and the Peets are pretty awesome.
The Emeryville Public Market has gone up and down over the years, with numerous attempts to modernize and update the space. The project has been purchased by City Center Retail Partners and hope to revive it with a food-centric approach that will incorporate 20 restaurants from top-notch local chefs. It seems they are in talks with a number of Michelin-starred Bay Area chefs to do quick-service concepts or fun fast-casual takeaways while focusing on technique and sustainability.

Expect it to open mid to late 2014.
